For the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, 2026, 112 polling sites and 143 polling centers have been designated in the district. According to the District Security Committee, Darchula, 22 of the designated polling centers are considered highly sensitive.
Among the 143 polling centers across the district, 22 have been classified as highly sensitive, 41 as sensitive, and 78 as normal, informed Anil Paudel, Chief of the District Security Committee and Chief District Officer. He stated that this classification was made based on geographical remoteness, past election experiences, and the accessibility of security agencies.
This year, 2,166 more voters have been added in the district compared to the 2022 election. According to District Election Officer Pradeep Singh Dhami, while the number of voters in the House of Representatives election of 2079 was 90,782, it has now increased to 92,948.
Dhami further stated that among the currently registered voters, 47,755 are male and 45,193 are female. In this district, which has nine local levels, Shailysikhar Municipality has 15,516 registered voters, while Mahakali Municipality has 14,143 registered voters.
Similarly, Malikaarjun Rural Municipality has 11,878, Lekam Rural Municipality has 10,311, and Naugad Rural Municipality has 10,088 registered voters. Marma Rural Municipality has 9,613, Duhun Rural Municipality has 8,441, Byas Rural Municipality has 8,162, and Api Himal Rural Municipality has 4,796 registered voters, according to the District Election Office.
