National Assembly Election Office Established in Dang

For the election to the vacant post of National Assembly member scheduled for January 25, 2026, a Lumbini Province-level Election Officer’s Office has been established in Dang.

Chief Election Officer and District Judge Prakash Prasad Pandit inaugurated the office in Ghorahi on December 31, 2025. On the occasion, Pandit stated that elections are synonymous with democracy and are essential to keep democracy alive. He emphasized that the responsibility to conduct the election in a clean, peaceful, and fear-free manner lies with everyone. He also stressed that compliance with the code of conduct is necessary to make the election truly an election and expressed expectations of cooperation from political parties, voters, candidates, and the media.

At the program, CPN-UML Dang Vice-Chairperson Manohar Budhathoki pledged that political parties would play their role in making the election successful, peaceful, and dignified. Dang Chief District Officer Bishwo Prakash Aryal noted that they are working sensitively to ensure the peaceful conduct of the election and stated that they are seriously engaged in ensuring the security of candidates and voters.

On the occasion, Lumbini Province Election Office Dang Chief Lal Singh Khadka and Nepal Journalists Federation Dang President Santosh Subedi also pledged their support to ensure a peaceful election. Representatives from the Nepali Congress, Nepal Communist Party, RSP, Rajmo, and RPP were also present at the program.

Competition for three posts in Lumbini

Competition will take place in Lumbini Province for three vacant posts of National Assembly members. In the election to be held on January 25 at Milan Kendra in Ghorahi, there will be competition for one woman, one person with disability, and one from the other cluster. A total of 305 voters have been arranged to vote in this election from Lumbini.

According to the constitutional provision, members of the Provincial Assembly and chiefs and deputy chiefs of local levels are entitled to vote in the National Assembly member election. Accordingly, Lumbini Province has 87 Provincial Assembly members and 109 local levels. However, due to the demise of Sajruddin Musalman, Chief of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality in Rupandehi, there will be 217 voters from the local level and 87 from the Provincial Assembly, making a total of 304 voters.

Election process

For the National Assembly member election, Election Officer’s Offices have been established on Wednesday in all seven provinces, including Lumbini. According to the Lumbini Province Election Office Dang, the schedule is as follows: publication of the voter list on January 3; submission of claims and objections from January 3-4; investigation and action on applications and objections on January 4 and 5; publication of the final voter list on January 6; registration of candidacy nominations on January 7 and publication of the list of candidates on the same day; filing of objections against candidates on January 8; examination and decision on nomination papers and objections on January 9 and 10; publication of the list of candidates on January 10; withdrawal of candidacy and publication of the final list of candidates on January 11; allocation of election symbols to candidates on January 12; and polling on January 25.
