The body of Aasman Tamang, 22 of Bandipur, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5, Sindhuli, was found with a gunshot wound in the Piurikhola forest of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-1 on December 29, 2025.
Superintendent of Police Lal Dhwaj Subedi, Chief of the Sindhuli District Police Office, stated that an investigation is underway to determine whether the deceased was killed or if the gun discharged accidentally.
After locals informed the police on the night of said date, a team deployed the same night from Amle Police Post, Bastipur Area Police Office, and Khurkot Area Police Office reached the incident site. During the preliminary investigation, it was found that Tamang had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdominal area, and a muzzle-loading gun was discovered near the body, broken in the middle. According to police, powder resembling gunpowder along with pieces of iron and glass were also found inside the bag carried by the deceased.
According to the police, the inquest of the body was conducted and a post-mortem examination was carried out at Sindhuli District Hospital on December 31. Police are continuing further investigation into the incident.
