A complaint has been filed alleging that Suraj Damai, a soldier deployed at the Suligad Checkpost of the Nepal Army located in Thulibheri Municipality–3, had beaten members of the public while under the influence of alcohol.
The victim, Om Prasad Rokaya of Thulibheri Municipality–6, filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Dolpa, on Poush 4, demanding treatment and security, alleging that he was subjected to a beating at around 6:30 p.m. on December 18.
According to the victim, Rokaya, while vehicle inspections were underway at the Suligad Checkpost, the accused, who had arrived from Dunai after consuming alcohol, pulled him out of the vehicle without any reason and beat him.
As a result of the beating, Rokaya sustained injuries to his right knee, hand, waist, and jaw. After receiving initial treatment at District Hospital Dolpa, he was referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment.
DSP Ruk Bahadur Khadka, Chief of the District Police Office, Dolpa, stated that a complaint has been filed by the victim against the soldier for the beatings committed under the influence of alcohol. He informed that the battalion commander has been requested to take action against the soldier involved, and that the process has already been initiated in accordance with military regulations.
According to DSP Khadka, the injured Rokaya has been referred to Nepalgunj with the assurance that the concerned soldier will bear the full cost of his medical treatment.
