Over 26000 New Voters added in Karnali

After the announcement of the election scheduled for March 5, an additional 26,635 new voters have been registered in Karnali Province during the update period. Previously, the province had 1,006,834 registered voters. The new voter list has been officially published, according to Provincial Election Officer Lal Bahadur Gurung.

According to him, among the 10 districts of Karnali, Surkhet ranks first, with 7,362 new voters registered. In Dailekh, 3,626 new voters have been added, in Rukum West, 2,840, in Jajarkot, 2,210, and in Salyan, 3,180 new voters have been registered. Similarly, in Dolpa, 1,107 new voters have been registered, while Jumla has 3,036, Mugu has 774, Humla has 824, and Kalikot has 1,776 newly listed voters.

According to the Provincial Election Office, youth aged 17 to 25 have shown significant interest in registering as new voters. More than 80% of the applicants for voter registration fall within this age group, as per Election Officer Gurung. The Provincial Election Office stated that the participation of new voters has increased significantly this time after the commission introduced an online system for voter registration with modern technical facilities. The youth population appears to be particularly attracted to this service, as the government has made it easy to register by uploading a photo of the national identity card and fingerprint details.
