The District Court has sentenced Ajay Tharu,26, of Thakurbaba Municipality-4 to 12 years imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl. According to Court Registrar Kamal Ghale, the bench of District Court Judge Manoj Shrestha on 10 December found the accused guilty and issued a verdict of 12 years’ imprisonment, a fine of Rs 500,000, and compensation of Rs 75,000 to the victim.
The aggrieved party filed a police complaint on 29 July 2025, stating that the accused had raped the girl on 16 July 2025. The police arrested the accused on the same day the report was filed. The victim underwent a medical examination on 29 July at Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya.
