77th International Human Rights Day Concluded

‘Human Rights: The Essential Foundation for All of Us’’ was the main slogan under which the 77th International Human Rights Day was celebrated on December 10 in Dhangadhi with a morning rally.

The 77th International Human Rights Day was marked through the joint initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law of Sudurpaschim Province, the Sudurpaschim Provincial Office of the National Human Rights Commission, INSEC, and various other governmental and non-governmental organizations working in the field of human rights.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Sudurpaschim Province, Hira Sarki, stated that the Sudurpaschim Provincial Government has been working in the field of human rights by formulating various laws, acts, and policies.

She said, “The 77th International Human Rights Day is an important occasion, and the government is committed to ensuring the protection of everyone’s human rights. The government will address the demands of the new generations with seriousness.”

Acting Chief of the National Human Rights Commission, Jhankar Rawal, remarked that although the international day is observed on December 10, the state must ensure that every individual is able to live with dignity and enjoy their rights every single day.

Kandakala Rana, Deputy Mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, said that since December 10 marks both the conclusion of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and the International Human Rights Day, everyone should treat one another with respect, act without discrimination, and foster love and goodwill. She emphasized that no one should commit violence against anyone, nor should anyone tolerate violence.

Similarly, the Human Rights Group in Ghodaghodi Municipality concluded the 34th International 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence on December 10 by organizing a morning rally.

Khadka Bahadur Rawat, Mayor of Ghodaghodi Municipality, stated that the government has been working by formulating policies and programs aimed at bringing positive change to the community.

Likewise, the Human Rights Group in Kailari Rural Municipality concluded the 34th International 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence on December 10 with a morning rally.

With the main slogan “Let’s Use Technology Properly, Let’s End Gender-Based Violence,” the 34th International 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence began on November 25, 2025 and was carried out for 16 days through various programs in Ghodaghodi Municipality and Kailari Rural Municipality, concluding on December 10. In Dhangadhi, the campaign ended with a lamp-lighting ceremony.
