INSEC Provides Financial Assistance to Violence Survivor Woman

The Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) and DCA Nepal, under the protection project, have provided financial assistance through the Human Rights Support Desk with the objective of making it easier for survivors of gender-based violence to access legal procedures.

On May 26, financial assistance was provided to a 36-year-old survivor in Ghorahi. With facilitation from Mina, focal person of the Gender-Based Violence One-Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC) at Rapti Health Sciences Institute, INSEC district representative Jayanarayan Pun handed over the financial support to the survivor to assist in the judicial process.

The woman, who was a victim of polygamy, was later raped by an unknown person, resulting in the birth of a child. She has been living under the care of her maternal family. A cash support of Rs. 10,000 was provided to help ease her access to the judicial process, as she is mentally distressed. OCMC focal person DC stated that the survivor is suffering from both physical and mental health problems due to the rape.
