Seven Displaced Police Posts Re-established in Panchthar

Seven police posts in the district which had been displaced during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9  have now been re-established.  The seven police posts were re-established after facing subsequent security challenges. According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the police posts that had been centralized at the district headquarters due to security threats were brought back into operation following demands from local residents.

The posts include Singhapur Police Post, Gopetar, Phalaincha, the temporary police post at Bhulke, Oyam, Thoklimba, and Aangsarang. After the police posts were merged into the district headquarters and other posts, local residents had been demanding their reinstatement. They expressed concern that the absence of police could lead to an increase in criminal activities and also affect security during the upcoming elections.

DSP Anish Kumar Karna of the District Police Office, Panchthar, stated that police officers have been deployed to the displaced posts in a phased manner. Police reached Singhapur and Bhulke on 4 December 2025, and the temporary police post at Oyam on 6 December. DSP Karna said that personnel had already been deployed to the other police posts a few days earlier. According to the District Police Office, the posts were reinstated in response to the demands of local residents and to strengthen the overall security situation.
