The District Court had sentenced a man to 15 years in prison in a rape case, and after 13 years, the Syangja District Police Office has arrested him. According to Inspector Sagar Karki of the Syangja District Police Office, 57-year-old Megh Bahadur Bhujel of Piple Dali, Putalibazar Municipality-14, was arrested on December 1, 2025.
Bhujel had raped an 11-year-old girl in the jungle of Brifen, Putalibazar Municipality-14, on September 12, 2012 (corresponding to 069 Bhadra 27). On December 8, 2016 (073 Mangsir 23), the District Court had sentenced him to 15 years in prison. Inspector Karki stated that after the sentencing, Bhujel had been hiding abroad.
Bhujel was arrested from his home and presented before the court on December 2, 2025. As per the court’s order, he has been sent to the District Prison to serve his sentence, Inspector Karki said.
