Clash Between Gen-Z Protesters and CPN-UML Cadres in Simara: Curfew Order Issued

After a clash between the Gen-Z group and CPN (UML) cadres on the morning of November 19 in Simara, the local administration issued a curfew order. As the situation became tense, the administration imposed a ban on all gatherings, rallies, demonstrations, assemblies, meetings, and sit-ins within 500 meters on both sides of the Gandak Canal to Pathlaiya road section and within 500 meters around the Simara Airport. The curfew order is in effect from 12:30 PM to 8:00 PM on November 19, according to Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra.

The clash broke out after the Gen-Z protested at Simara Chowk and in front of the airport after CPN-UML senior vice-chair Ishwar Pokharel and leader Mahesh Basnet were scheduled to arrive to address the Madhesh Province-level program organized by the Youth Association in Parwanipur-6. The District Police Office, Bara, stated that the enraged group broke the iron gate at the main entrance of Simara Airport. A clash also occurred between the police and the Gen-Z group while authorities attempted to bring the situation under control.
