The meeting of the Human Rights Defenders’ Network, Karnali Province, was held on 14 November in Birendranagar. The meeting, chaired by Pitambar Dhakal, chairperson of the network, discussed passing the network’s one-year action plan, about adding member organizations that had been left out, and deliberated on measures to reduce the recent increase in human rights violations and abuses in Karnali Province. Narayan Subedi, coordinator of the INSEC Karnali Province Office, stated that to ensure easier access to justice for victims, the next meeting will include discussions with concerned authorities such as government lawyers and judges of the District Court. The meeting also discussed the roles of stakeholders in making legal practitioners and probation services more effective.
The meeting was attended by Ramesh Kumar Thapa, Chief of the National Human Rights Commission, Karnali Province Office, along with representatives of member organizations.
