INSEC Assisted Victim in Going Through Legal Process

INSEC provided financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to Nilam Godiya, 42, from Piprahwa, Janaki Rural Municipality-6 on 12 November to go through legal procedures. The assistance was provided by the INSEC Lumbini Province Office through the Human Rights Assistance Desk under the protection project.

After her husband, Ramprakash Godiya evicted her from the house,and filed a divorce case against the victim at the District Court, The victim filed a case under property rights at the District Court in Banke. During the Gen-z protest, all her documents at the court were destroyed in a fire caused by arson. To reconstruct the case files and pursue legal proceedings, the victim submitted an application to the INSEC Lumbini Province Office on November 12, seeking financial assistance, based on a recommendation from the Information and Human Rights Research Center, Banke.

INSEC District Representative Dhrubaraj Sharma stated that the financial assistance was provided to make it easier for the victim to prepare case files and cover transportation, photocopying, and court fees, as all the court files had been destroyed in a fire during the movement.
