Police arrested Rudra Bahadur Bishwakarma,31, of Khandbari Municipality-6, on November 16 after he allegedly attacked police and attempted to flee. Police used gunfire to make the arrest. According to DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali of the District Police Office, Bishwakarma, who was found in a suspicious situation at Panchkhapan Chungkhurung Hotel near Hospital Chowk in Kandbari Municipality-1, attacked police with a khukuri during questioning. Police fired a shot in his left shoulder to arrest him.
DSP Mainali stated that Bishwakarma attacked the police with a cooker and threatened the police with a khukuri while attempting to flee. Police fired in self-defense to arrest him. Bishwakarma, injured by the gunshot, received primary treatment at the District Hospital and was admitted on November 16 to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan for further treatment.
Bishwakarma, who had previously served a sentence in jail for theft, was released some time ago. After his release, the District Police Office reported that seven theft complaints have been filed against him.
