Provincial-level Discussion of the Human Rights Defenders’ Network Concluded

A provincial-level discussion program of the Human Rights Defenders’ Network was completed on October 30, 2025 in Dhangadhi, organized by the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Sudurpaschim Province Office, Dhangadhi.

INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Coordinator Khadka Raj Joshi stated that due to the adverse situation in the country caused by the Gen-Z movement, human rights defenders are facing various problems and challenges in the field. In such a situation, coordination among all human rights defenders is necessary for their security, protection, and promotion.

Coordinator Joshi stated that in order to change the negative perception towards organizations, support can be provided through debates and discussions that address the concerns of the Gen-Z group, and that regular meetings and dialogues with stakeholders are necessary to enhance coordination.

FAYA Nepal Chairperson Goma Acharya stated that due to the increase in incidents of human rights violations, discussions should be held with the police and administration under the leadership of the National Human Rights Commission, and human rights defenders should engage in dialogue with youths affiliated with political parties as well as members of the Gen-Z group.

Coordinator of the Human Rights Defenders Network and Chairperson of the NGO Federation Sudurpaschim Province, Deviprasad Khanal, stated that although human rights defenders have been working as watchdogs for the rights of the people, there have been various accusations, so they must work in a way that does not violate others’ rights, and along with information sharing, problems should also be collectively addressed.
