Jit Prasad Sapkota,32, an inmate from Sundarharaicha Municipality–7, died on October 24 while in custody at the Morang District Prison located in Hatkhola, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-8. According to Jailor Gaurav Dhungel, Sapkota, who had been in custody since July 28 following a District Court order on July 27 in a drug-related case, died on October 24 while undergoing treatment at Koshi Hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital on the night of October 13 after developing sudden swelling and difficulty breathing.
According to Jailor Gaurav Dhungel, Sapkota was referred to Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar on October 23 after his health condition worsened. He died during treatment at the hospital on the night of October 24. Doctors involved in his treatment said fluid had accumulated in his lungs and his liver was completely damaged, making it impossible to save him. His body was handed over to the family on October 25.
