An inmate who had escaped from Jagannath Dewal Jail in Kathmandu following the demonstrations on September 8 and 9 during the movement was arrested in Rupandehi on October 8, 2025.
According to the District Police Office, Rupandehi, Punat Basi Loniya, 65 who had been serving a sentence in a killing case involving a government employee, was arrested from Gaidhawa Rural Municipality–6, Gulariya, Rupandehi.
A team mobilized from the Area Police Office, Suryapur arrested him and handed him over to the District Police Office, said DSP Suraj Karki of the District Police Office.
