According to Information Officer Gahendra Kunwar of the Lumbini Province Election Office in Ghorahi, the number of people registering has increased following the government’s issuance of new voter-related rules. The office reported that 133 new voters were added over two days before Dashain and on October 6.
The office stated that 163 people have filled out advance forms to register in the new voter list, with biometric registration still pending. Information Officer Kunwar added that if voter registration can be increased at the municipal level, a significant number of new voters could be added in the district.
In Dang, the demand for voter registration at the municipal level led to the addition of 54,000 new voters in the 2022 elections. In that election, Dang had a total of 414,956 voters, with 134,733 in Constituency No. 1, 133,748 in Constituency No. 2, and 146,475 in Constituency No. 3.
