Shyam BK,19 of Khatedi, Poodsil Rural Municipality–7, who was being held at the Child Reform Home in Doti, died on October 5, 2025.
According to Inspector Nawaraj Rawal of the District Police Office, Doti, BK was found hanging inside the sleeping room of the reform home.
Police Sergeant Birkha Rokaya, who was on duty, stated that BK was found hanging from a hook used to hang a fan, using a rope meant for hanging clothes. He was immediately taken to the District Hospital after the rope was cut, but the doctor pronounced him dead upon examination.
According to Sanumaya Limbu, Chief of the Child Reform Home, BK had escaped from the reform home on September 9, 2025. His father, Lal Bahadur BK, and other relatives handed him over to the police only on October 4. The police then sent him back to the reform home at around 8:30 a.m. on October 5.
Chief Limbu further stated that after being counselled upon his return, BK went to his room to keep his belongings and then hanged himself with a rope.
The post-mortem examination of the body was conducted the very day at the District Hospital, Doti, and the body was handed over to the family the same day, according to Limbu.
