On October 4, 2025, the police arrested Ward Chairperson of Kalyanpur Municipality–8, Ramkishor Yadav, 45, Ganesh Kamati, 65 and Shailendra Singh, 40 on charges of vandalizing and looting the houses of the Dalit community in the same ward.
The victims had lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya, on September 19, regarding a dispute that took place on September 17 during Vishwakarma Puja with a group including local Prabhas Singh. Although the police had called the accused for a discussion, they did not attend. According to Sobhit Paswan, on the October 3, the accused vandalized, looted, and misbehaved at the homes of victims Rajkumar Paswan, Rasalal Paswan, Ashok Paswan, Binde Paswan, and Sobhit Paswan. “They vandalized and looted the homes of poor people like us,” said Sobhit, adding that they filed a complaint on October 4 at the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya, against Ward Chairperson Ramkishor Yadav, Shailendra Yadav, Nitesh Singh, Prabhas Singh, and 13 others.
According to SP Anantaram Sharma of the District Police Office, Siraha, Ward Chairperson and Shailendra were arrested on 18th Asoj, and Ganesh was arrested on the October 3 for their alleged involvement in the incident. He added that other accused individuals are absconding and search efforts are underway.
