Muktinarayan Kurmi, 40, an inmate who had escaped from the Central Jail in Jagannath Deval, Kathmandu, on September 9, 2025, has been arrested by the Parsa Police. DSP Haribahadur Basnet of Parsa stated that Kurmi was arrested on 7th Ashoj while hiding at his own house in Simra Tol, Kalikamai Rural Municipality–5, Parsa.
Kurmi, who had escaped from the Central Jail, Jagannath Deval, Kathmandu, on September 23 during the protests, had been convicted by the Parsa District Court for strangling his wife, 35-year-old Sangita Devi Kurmi, to death. Muktinarayan had escaped from jail while serving his 25-year jail sentence handed down by the court.
