Landslide Puts Nine Houses at Risk

With the monsoon reactivating in Koshi Province on May 30, 2025, nine houses in Mokten, Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-6, are under threat due to landslides. The continuous rainfall over the past few days managed to wipe out an entire community beneath, ultimately putting nine houses in Sangurigadhi at risk. The household at risk belong to Kewal Prasad Magar, Mohan Magar, Bishnabahadur Magar, Kumari Magar, Rajkumar Magar, Bhimabahadur Magar, Prembahadur Magar, Ranbahadur Magar, and Gyan Rana.

According to Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality Chairperson Jitendra Rumdali Rai, landslide activity triggered by road construction on the Ravi-Ranke route has destabilized the settlement. As a precaution, 42 family members from the affected households have been relocated to safer areas. Some homes have been partially or fully damaged, walls cracked, and certain houses rendered uninhabitable. DSP Ramesh Pradhan of the Bhedetar Police Station confirmed the relocation of residents at risk.

Chief District Officer Shivram Gelal stated that security personnel have been deployed for immediate rescue operations. While the local government holds primary responsibility for relief, collaboration with higher authorities is underway to ensure rescue and aid for the landslide victims.
