Manoj Mahata, 40, from Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City-12, who was injured by gunfire fired by security personnel on September 11, 2025 while trying to escape from Ramechhap Jail, died during treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital on September 13, 2025.
According to Inspector Kaushal Neupane of the Ramechhap District Police Office, he was serving a sentence in Ramechhap Jail in a human trafficking case. Earlier, Rajkishwor Yadav, 35, from Morang District, and Biguru Dhobi, 58, from Bharatpur, Dhanusha District, who were also injured by gunfire, had died at Ramechhap Hospital on September 11, 2025.
In the incident, a total of 15 inmates were injured. Among them, five were receiving treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital, and seven at Ramechhap Hospital.
