Injured During Gen-Z Protest Receiving Treatment in Hospitals

On 9 September, several individuals were injured during the Gen-Z protest and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals in the city. A joint monitoring conducted on 12 September by the National Human Rights Commission, Gandaki Province Office, Pokhara, and INSEC Gandaki Province, Pokhara, found that those injured during the protest are undergoing treatment at Gandaki Academy of Health Sciences, Ramghat, Gandaki Medical Hospital, and Fewa City Hospital.

Gandaki Hospital is treating four people in its ICU, including Laxman Nepali, 18, Bibash Ghartimagar, 19, Ramesh Sharma, 32, and Bijay Lama, 42. Doctors said the condition of Bijay Lama, who suffered burn injuries, is critical. The hospital’s Orthopedic Department is also treating Krishna BK, 21, injured during the protest in Dulegauda, Tanahun, and a 14-year-old boy who sustained gunshot wounds when police opened fire in Ganesh Tole, Pokhara Metropolitan City-4, on 10 September.

Gandaki Medical College in New Bajar is treating several people injured during the 9 September protests in Pokhara. The injured include Anish Sapkota, 17, who was hit in the face by a tear gas canister in front of the Pokhara Metropolitan City office, and Anish Rai, 19, who sustained a leg injury from broken glass at Lakeside. The hospital is also treating Bishal Adhikari, 19, Sushant Bishwakarma, 18, and Samir Adhikari, 21. Dipesh Pariyar is being treated in the ICU.

On 9 September, Sushant Bhattarai,21, sustained gunshot injuries during the protests and is currently receiving treatment at Fewa City Hospital. During the monitoring, officials confirmed that all three hospitals are providing free treatment to the injured. Hospital administrations stated that individuals injured during the protests are being treated free of charge.
