In view of the Gen Z protests, the District Administration Office of Sankhuwasabha issued a curfew from 5:00 p.m. on 10 September until 6:00 a.m. on 11 September. Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapaliya stated that the curfew was imposed due to signs of unrest and potential disruptions to peace within the district. Chief District Officer Thapaliya stated that the curfew was issued under Section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 1971. The order prohibits gatherings of more than five people at a single location. The notice further states that any violations of the prohibitions during the curfew will be addressed by security personnel, who are authorized to take control and carry out legal action as per the law.
Similarly, all forms of protest including hunger strikes, sit-ins, blockades, rallies, demonstrations, and assemblies have been completely prohibited. The complete command of security was handed over to the Nepali Army from 10:00 p.m. on 9 September. Following this, the Nepali Army has begun joint patrols with the Armed Police Force. To prevent potential incidents, security measures have been heightened, with the Nepali Army deployed alongside the police at the district prison and other key government offices. The district prison in Khandbari, Sankhuwasabha, which has a capacity of 55 inmates, currently holds 141 prisoners. The Army has also urged the general public to avoid going outside unnecessarily.
