UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres through the social media platform X stated that he has been observing the situation in Nepal, and expressed deep sorrow over the humanitarian losses resulting from the protests.
He called on the relevant authorities to fully comply with human rights laws. He emphasized that protests should be conducted peacefully, with respect for life and property. To prevent further escalation of violence, he also urged dialogue, thorough investigations, the exercise of restraint, and the development of constructive approaches.
