In a press release issued by Press Council spokesperson Dipak Khanal, it was stated: “Many incidents are still not being registered immediately. Such cases appear lower in the statistics because victims are unable to file complaints on time.” The press release emphasized that all state mechanisms must be effective in protecting press freedom and preventing attacks on journalists. The Council urged the concerned authorities to investigate incidents of oppression against journalists, take action against the guilty, and immediately implement measures to ensure press freedom and journalist safety.
