Police arrested Niroj Kumar Khadgi, 46, a resident of Thaiba in Godawari Municipality–14, Lalitpur on August 3 for the charge of killing his wife Kamalamaya Khadgi from Chandragiri Municipality-8, Thankot, Kathmandu. According to the Lalitpur District Police Office, Susmita’s body was found on the morning of August 3 inside their own shelter in Thaiba.
SP Chakraraj Joshi of Lalitpur Police stated that the aggrieved party filed a complaint against the accused at the Satdobato Police Post on the same day, alleging that he strangled his wife to death at their residence. SP Joshi further informed that both husband and wife had consumed alcohol on the evening of August 2, and a domestic dispute allegedly led to the incident, as claimed by the accused. The Lalitpur District Court has granted a seven-day extension for police investigation against the accused.
The postmortem of the body was done at the Patan Hospital on August 3, according to the hospital’s director, Professor Dr. Ravi Shakya.
