Sixteen members of the same family from a marginalized community have gone missing in Bhandas Bipar Kateri, Goljungur Rural Municipality-6, Sindhuli. The missing individuals belong to the family of local Urmila Hayu, approximately 56 years old. The family lived in a remote house, and it remains suspense how long they have been missing. A fire broke out in the kitchen of Hayu’s house, causing minor damage.
The cattle of the family, including buffaloes, goats, and chickens, have been left unattended at the house. Ward Chairperson Rabinkumar Shrestha of Ward No. 6 informed that the family is believed to have gone missing around the 26th or 27th of July. He also stated that the family had recently received approximately Rs 800,000 as social security allowance for 18 members before they disappeared.
A neighbor noticed that no one had come to feed or water the calf tied near their house for three days. When they went to check on the family, they found out about the incident on the morning of July 28. After the incident came to light, a police team reached Hayu’s house on the morning of July 28. None of the family members have been contacted so far, according to DSP Surya Prasad Subedi of the Sindhuli District Police Office.
