A total of 199 gender-based violence victims received services from the One-Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC) at Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya. The center was established to support individuals suffering from physical, mental, and social trauma resulting from human rights violations such as rape, sexual abuse, physical assault, child marriage, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
According to Sapana Bathamagar, the focal person of the OCMC and Nursing Inspector at Bardiya Hospital, the center provided services in the fiscal year 2024/2025 to 34 victims of rape, 17 of sexual abuse, 44 of physical violence, 89 of child marriage, and 13 of mental torture. She further informed that 210 individuals received services in the fiscal year 2023/2024, while 289 were assisted in 2022/2023.
Dr. Subash Pandey, Medical Superintendent at Bardiya Hospital, stated that the OCMC was established to provide timely treatment and proper support to victims of gender-based violence and to help prevent such incidents. He added that the center offers services related to gender-based violence and child protection, including medical care, mental and psychosocial counseling, legal aid, shelter, and rehabilitation, while maintaining the confidentiality of victims’ identities.
