31st “Prakash Human Rights Award to Sunil Kumar Yadav

INSEC has decided to present the 31st Prakash Human Rights Award to Sunil Kumar Yadav, the coordinator of the Chure and Forest Conservation Campaign. The Prakash Human Rights Award was established in memory of INSEC’s founding General Secretary and tireless human rights defender, Prakash Kafle. According to a press release issued by INSEC Chairperson Dr. Kundan Aryal, Yadav was selected from among 40 nominees who were publicly called for the award, recognizing his unwavering struggle in the field of Environment and human rights.photo 20250727 Katmandanu Prakash pusraskar

The decision was made by the Prakash Human Rights Award Selection Committee formed under the coordination of Sushil Pyakurel, the Founding Chairperson of INSEC. The committee included Honorable Dr. Surya Prasad Dhungel, member of the National Human Rights Commission, and human rights activist Ganga Kasaju as members. Yadav, from Simraungadh Municipality–2, Maubahi in Bara has been continuously active in Chure conservation and environmental rights since 2017. He has been conducting various awareness programs, campaigns, and advocacy efforts to draw the attention of the government and concerned authorities to the climate and environmental impacts emerging in Madhesh Province due to the exploitation of the Chure.

The awardee Yadav will be presented with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a certificate of honor, and INSEC’s token of love on the occasion of the 33rd Prakash Memorial Day to be held in Kathmandu on 1 August.
