Police arrested Binod Giri,40, District Chairperson of Nepal Tarun Dal, a youth wing of the Nepali Congress, on the night of July 20, 2025. He was taken into custody on charges of attacking a hotel employee with a khukuri. According to DSP Mohan Jung Budhathap a of the District Police Office, Giri allegedly abused and attacked a 32-year-old employee with a khukuri at Visit Karnali Resort Pvt. Ltd., in Birendranagar Municipality–10, on July 19. The injured is undergoing treatment at Karnali Care Hospital.
Police stated that Giri has previously faced six cases, including charges of robbery involving cash and goods on December 13, 2013, attempted killing on April 10, 2014, another attempted killing case in 2015 and other public offences.
