The District Court has sentenced Niranjan Lama, 28, of Bhotekoshi Municipality-3 to 11 years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl. The bench of District Court Judge Bhagwati Sharma Dhungana, on July 21, issued the verdict sentencing Lama to 11 years in jail and imposing a fine of Rs 500,000. A complaint had been filed against Lama at the Area Police Office, Bahrabise, on April 29, 2024, accusing him of raping the girl on April 1, 2024.
Based on the court’s order, the accused was sent to judicial custody for further proceedings starting June 3, 2024.
