Santosh Pal, 40, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-5, died during treatment at Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar at around 6:30 on the evening of July 9. Pal had been in pre-trial detention at Morang District Jail on a rape charge since November 26, 2024 as per the jail administration.
After Pal experienced swelling in his body and difficulty breathing, he was admitted to the hospital on June 26. The case against him was still under consideration in court. Jailer Dhungel stated that the body was handed over to the family on July 9. The victim’s family is preparing for the final rites of the body on July 10.
