One Injured by Police Gun Firing

Nasaruddin Miya,55, of Kachankawal Rural Municipality-5 was injured in police firing, according to the police. DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, Jhapa, said that Miya was shot in the right calf when a joint team from the District Police Office, Jhapa, and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Kathmandu, opened fire while attempting to arrest him on July 8.

DSP Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said that the injured Miya was discharged after treatment at Om Sai Pathibhara Medical in Bhadrapur Municipality-7 on July 8. In connection with the incident, police arrested 35-year-old Manisur Alam, a permanent resident of Kishanganj District, India, from Bhadrapur Municipality-7. Journalist Chiranjibi Ghimire stated that the police had to open fire after he misbehaved with police when they attempted to arrest him on July 8. It is reported that he was involved in drug trafficking in Bhadrapur Municipality-7.
