Although a contract agreement had been signed to expand the road along with a drainage system, the construction had not started even after one and a half years. It was only from July 2 that the contractor began digging trenches for the drainage. DSP Aryal said that Lama, who is also a construction entrepreneur, attacked the ward chairperson during a discussion related to this matter.

Earlier, on June 18, Ward Chairperson Sabin Neupane of Ward No. 1 was also attacked. The sub-metropolitan city issued a press statement on July 2 condemning the incident, stating that those involved in the attack have not yet been brought under the purview of the law.
