Surendra Hamal, 40, of Babai Rural Municipality-7, allegedly misbehaved with Kulbahadur Khatri Chhetri, 64, Chairperson of Babai Rural Municipality. The aggrieved party informed that the incident took place on June 11 while Chairperson Khatri was in a discussion in his office. Surendra reportedly struck Chairperson Khatri with a motorcycle helmet and vandalized his office while verbally abusing him.
A complaint was filed at the Area Police Office, Khilatpur, on June 11. Chairperson Khatri stated that Surendra, who has taken a contract for extracting stones, gravel, and sand from a local stream, resorted to misbehavior after he was stopped from using a JCB machine for the work.
DSP Chakrabahadur Shah of the District Police Office, Dang, stated that Surendra has been absconding since the incident and a search is underway. The Rural Municipality office issued a statement on June 11, demanding action against those involved in the incident.
