Madhav Prasad Upadhyaya, 36, who was serving his sentence at the Central Jail in Khamba Camp, Bidur Municipality-6, has passed away. According to Jail Chief Netra Ghimire, Upadhyaya was found attempting to hang himself with a bedsheet in the toilet on February 25. He was taken to Trishuli Hospital for treatment but died during treatment. Upadhyaya, a resident of Panchkhal Municipality-6, Kavre, was transferred from Nakkhu Jail, Lalitpur to Nuwakot two months ago. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Kavre District Court for the killing of his wife and son in June 2021.
Inspector Krishna Baniya, the Information Officer, stated that the body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem was conducted at the Trishuli Hospital on February 26.
