Bipin Karki, a 23-year-old mathematics teacher at the Gandaki Academy in Pokhara Metropolitan City-6, Jarewar subjected a sixth-grade student to beating on February 18. The student stated that the teacher not only denied permission to use the restroom but also inflicted physical harm, leaving bruises on his body. The incident came to light after the school terminated the teacher.
The Kaski District Police Office arrested the teacher on February 18 following the verbal complaint from the aggrieved party. DSP Santosh Niraula of the Ward Police Office, Pokhara-6 Baidam stated that the teacher was arrested immediately after the incident at the school. As the following day was a public holiday, the teacher was kept in custody with a detention order. He mentioned that the victim’s guardian were called multiple times to file a complaint, but they refused. Since the guardians did not file a complaint, the teacher was released from custody on February 20. Principal Shivaraj Paudel of Gandaki Academy stated that the school covered the student’s treatment expenses.
