According to Chhabi Thapa, a resident of Bhadali, Sarkegad Rural Municipality-5, the Nepal Telecom tower was vandalized by a group of unidentified individuals on the night of 20 December. According to Thapa, 10,688 customers from wards 1 to 8 of Sarkegad Rural Municipality have been deprived of telephone services due to the vandalism. Service user Santosh Singh stated that a group of unidentified individuals broke the door and solar panels installed for the tower and damaged the electronic equipment inside. Gar Mahat, a Technical Assistant at Nepal Telecom Humla, stated that this incident has caused inconvenience to local customers. He mentioned that there has been no police report or evidence collection regarding the incident so far.
Sarkegad Rural Municipality houses government and non-government offices, including the Rural Municipality Office, Citizen Bank, and so on. Chairperson Than Bahadur Rokaya of the Sarkegad Rural Municipality stated that all these offices are facing difficulties in their operations. Inspector Ek Bahadur Khadka from the Area Police Office, Sarkegad, mentioned that they are investigating the incident.
