The families of the conflict victims from Bardiya staged a rally demanding justice on August 30. They protested in Gulariya against forced disappearances, expressing disappointment with the investigation commission’s working approach.
The victims have complained that the Commission has failed to fulfill its responsibilities from the start, and the additional time granted has been wasted without progress. The Commission has not worked in a way that gives the families of those who disappeared during the armed conflict any sense of justice.
In the Comprehensive Peace Agreement on November 21, 2006, both sides agreed to make the status of the disappeared persons public within 60 days. However, since this has not yet happened, the families of the victims have taken to the streets, expressing their dissatisfaction.
