Landslide Claims Three Lives in Rukum

The flood of Tatopani and Jhinchour rivers swept away the temporary residents  in the earthquake-affected settlement of Jhinchour Bagar causing the death of 3 girls of Athiskot Municipality- 13, in their houses on 16 July .

Inspector Bakhat Bahadur Shahi, also the Information Officer of the District Police Office, informed that the bodies of 10-year-old Hitmaya Puna, 8-year-old Dhansa Puna, and 4-year-old Manisha Sarki were recovered. They had been buried in their house after a flood occurred at night while they were sleeping.

According to Rabi Keshi, the Mayor of Aathiskot Municipality, search operations are going on for 40-year-old Dil Bahadur Budhathoki, who went missing when his house collapsed due to the flood.

The flood along with debris have raised  concerns that his residence may have been buried, making it difficult for  locals  to clear debris. Dozers have been mobilised to  clear the area for search and rescue operations.

Seven people who were injured in the flood are being treated at the city hospital in Athiskot. 22-year-old Manish Puna, 12-year-old Binay Sarki, 29-year-old Janak Khatri, 6-year-old Mansari Puna, 4-year-old Makson Pun, 28-year-old Dhanmaya Puna, and 65-year-old Kalpana Kami were injured. Inspector Shahi said that search and rescue has been accelerated.
