Manoj Paswan, aged 28 from Badgama Tole, Kanchanrup Municipality-10, was sentenced to 10 years in prison along with fine of Rs 2800 in the victim trust fund on July 14, 2024, for killing a 65-year-old man. The district court found him guilty of attacking the elderly man with a bamboo stick at Barrier Chowk, Kanchanrup Municipality-8, following a verbal altercation. Despite claiming no intent to kill, the court upheld the 10-year sentence, considering the severity of the assault. The victim’s post-mortem was conducted at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbiraj, following Paswan’s arrest on July 19, 2023.
