The District Court sentenced Chabilal Khanal, 60 to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment for killing his 55-year-old wife Pabitra Khanal of Jhimruk Rural Municipality-5.
Diwakar Pokharel, a Non-Gazetted Officer of the District Court informed INSEC that the bench of Judge Naram Khanal on May 21, 2024 found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months imprisonment along with a compensation of Rs 35,000.
A complaint was filed at the district police office on February 21, 2023 alleging that Khanal killed his wife on February 20, 2023 during a domestic dispute.
Khanal was arrested on 22 February 2023 and the post-mortem of the body was done on 23rd February at District Hospital, Bijuwar and handed over to the family.
The police registered a case against Khanal in the District Court on March 17, 2023 through the District Public Prosecutor’s Office. Subsequently, the district court sent Khanal to prison for pre-trial detention on the same day.
