Patients at Dadhafaya Health Post in Simkot Rural Municipality-7 are experiencing difficulties due to a shortage of drinking water at the health post.
Kalpana Singh, one of the patients who came for delivery, complained that the lack of water facilities has created difficulties for pregnant women, patients, and staff at the health post. Most pregnant women have to travel to a place called Takaselauna for bathing, washing clothes, and other cleaning purposes, as water is essential during pregnancy and after delivery. She added that although there is a stream of water near the health post, locals do not allow pregnant women to touch it. Consequently, they are compelled to travel to a distant stream, causing health problems.
Similarly, Kalu Singh, an Office Assistant at the Health Post, informed that they are forced to fetch water from the village and use it for various purposes, including toilets and cleaning.
Likewise, Santosh Bohora, the in-charge of the health post, informed that the toilets in the health post have not been in use for a long time due to a scarcity of water for 15 years. Additionally, even patients do not have access to drinking or sanitation water. Furthermore, despite informing the health branch and the Rural Municipality multiple times, no action has been taken.
Bohora stated that patients in the health post need to bring water from the village for drinking, relying on it daily. However, getting enough drinking water in the village during winter is challenging. Moreover, the lack of drinking water has affected the operation of the health post.
