Complaints Of Flood Victims For Not Receiving Relief Money

Many citizens were affected by the floods and landslides that came along with the rains in the last two years. The flood victims have complained that their properties have been damaged however they have not received the relief money.

Applications for relief and compensation have also been collected through the District Administration Office in Jumla. Lal Bahadur Shahi from Tatopani Rural Municipality-8 expressed that they have not received relief and compensation for a long time.He stated that the amount for relief and compensation was received in the District Administration Office Jumla in the last month of july.

The funds that arrived in July have still not been distributed till the second week of October.

Manikrishna Pandey from Tatopani Rural Municipality-4 reported that the funds allocated for flood victims from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Authority have been received by the District Administration Office. He said, Every household should get Rs.50000, Rs. 5000 from the Rural Municipality and Rs 45000 from the authority. However,they have not received it for a longtime.

15 people have submitted a file with an application to the District Administration Office. He said that they somehow rebuilt their houses by taking loans. however, have not been able to receive the money for relief and compensation.

Dilli Acharya from Tatopani Rural Municipality-6, Hiyakhola Rural Municipality, mentioned that they have been compelled to visit the District Administration Office on a daily basis.

According to Chief District Officer Jayakumar Ghimire, funds have been received from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Authority.He reported that 22 individuals have already received the funds, while 15 others have submitted their application files. Furthermore, preparation for providing the funds before Dashain is being made.
