Teacher Accused of Physical Assault Arrested

A complaint was filed against a 30-year-old computer teacher, Rishikesh Pandey, at the district police office on September 28. The complaint alleged that he had beaten an 11-year-old girl who was studying in class five at Sunshine Residential High School in Kapilvastu Municipality-1.

Human rights activist Pushpa Regmi stated that the accused had beaten the victim  in the classroom on September 27 because she didn’t have her parent’s signature on the homework diary. The girl was reportedly beaten on both hands, knees, and various parts of her body for this reason.

Sachitanand Barma, the girl’s father, confirmed that his daughter had been beaten on both hands, knees, and different parts of her body for failing to get the diary signed.

The school’s principal, Dharmendra Kumar Chaudhary, acknowledged the incident of beating the student and mentioned that Teacher Pandey was made to apologize to the student after understanding the situation.

DSP Ganga Bahadur Thapa of the District Police Office Kapilvastu confirmed that a complaint had been registered against the teacher who beat the girl, and a letter had been sent to the accused for investigation.
