The district court has sentenced 57-year-old Ramji Bahadur Thapa Chhetri of Shuklagandaki municipality-8 to one year of imprisonment after finding him partially guilty of raping a 10-year-old girl.
District Court Information Officer Harishchandra Gautam informed that the decision was made by Justice Komal Prasad Acharya’s bench on September 10. The court accepted the partial claim made by the prosecution in the case and handed down a one-year prison sentence to the accused.
On the same day that the verdict was issued, the parents of the victim filed a complaint at the local police office in Belchautar, stating that the accused had raped their daughter on November 2, 2022. The police promptly arrested the accused on the same day.
The police subsequently registered a rape case against the accused in the District Court through the District Public Prosecutor’s Office on November 23, 2022. The accused was held in custody pending trial following a court order on November 25. Additionally, a medical examination of the victim was conducted on November 2, 2022, at Damauli Hospital as part of the investigation.
