On August 21, the police arrested a 29-year-old man named Tufan KC, originally from Bhumikasthan Municipality-4 in Arghakhanchi but currently residing in Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality-19, Kumaripati. He was arrested on charges of misbehaving against a 24-year-old woman through social media.
The victim reported to the police on August 20 that the accused had been making video calls to her through messenger, displaying his private parts, and recording the acts on another mobile phone. Despite the victim’s requests for him to stop such behavior, he continued using obscene and insulting language, even in pictures he posted on his Facebook account. The victim filed a complaint with the cyber bureau in Bhotahiti.
Following the victim’s complaint, the accused was arrested in Kumaripati on August 21 with the assistance of the District Police Office in Lalitpur. DSP Pashupati Kumar Rai, the spokesperson for Nepal Police’s Cyber Bureau in Bhotahiti, stated that the bureau obtained a seven-day extension from the district court and detained the accused on August 21 for further investigation.
