Authorities apprehended a 22-year-old individual identified as Muktinath Prasad Barai from Mayadevi Rural Municipality-7, Gairgatti, on August 13 in Bhairahawa. The arrest was executed in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl. The incident, which led to the arrest, occurred on August 10.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, formally lodged a complaint of rape at the District Police Office Rupandehi on August 13. According to the victim’s account, she was subjected to the distressing incident by the accused, who reportedly took her to the Baglung Hotel and Guest House located in Bhairahawa under the pretext of having lunch. The complaint filed by the victim serves as an appeal for justice.
Deputy Superintendent Shyamu Aryal of the District Police Office Rupandehi affirmed that legal action has been initiated based on the complaint lodged by the victim. A comprehensive investigation into the incident is currently underway to ascertain the veracity of the allegations and to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the alleged rape.
The victim underwent a medical examination on August 11 at Bhim Hospital Bhairahawa, as per official reports.
